Numbing: Who Needs It

Brie C - Monday, May 20, 2013

As the front desk manager, I get a lot of questions about our numbing solution.

"Does it really work?"

"Is it worth it?"

"Can I use this if I'm pregnant?"

Sure, waxing can be painful -- luckily there are ways to make it better! Before I tell you the benefits and reasons why you would or wouldn't need the numbing solutions we provide here in the salon, first thing's first: take these steps to ensure you'll be as pain-free during your wax as possible:

1. Avoid caffeine! Caffeine makes your skin more sensitive. Skipping your morning coffee and avoiding the any soda will help reduce the pain during your wax. If you're a heavy caffeine user, try skipping caffeine for a few days. The longer you avoid caffeine, the less your wax will hurt.

2. Take an ibuprofen (or tylenol, if you're pregnant!) about an hour before your appointment (pending doctor approval, of course). This will help with the redness and swelling that may occur after a wax, along with the pain.

3. Schedule your wax the week after your period ends. If you are getting waxed right before or during your period, this can cause it to be slightly more painful.

4. Use BNUMB!

So what's all the fuse about our numbing solution and does BNUMB really work? YES! It's numbs the top layer of your skin, similar to the way a dentist numbs your gums when you're getting a dental procedure. You may still feel pressure and a little pain, but it helps reduce most or all of the pain! If you're planning on waxing regularly, it's highly recommended. The bottle will last you OVER A YEAR if you wax every 4-6 weeks!

So when shouldn't you use BNUMB? If you're a gladiator when it comes to pain. Do you have a high pain tolerance? Or are you just waxing once and never again? You might be okay without it (although, it's worth the cost even if you're just waxing once!). Are you pregnant? We recommend talking to your doctor before purchasing BNUMB. Since every person and every doctor is different, we can't say whether your doctor will personally approve the use of this product, although BNUMB is directed as being safe for use during pregnancy and we have had many client use it during their pregnancy with zero issues.

Still unsure if BNUMB is for you? Listen to those on Yelp!

Jill J says: "They also sell these numbing drops - I HIGHLY recommend them. They make the appt much more tolerable which we could all use!"

Jessica B says: "They sell the numbing cream that I highly advise using!"

If you are interested in purchasing BNUMB for your appointment, come in about 15 minutes before the start of your appointment. You can purchase and apply the numbing solution here in the salon, wait 10-15 minutes for it to take affect, and then go back for your appointment. When you get here, just mention you'd like to purchase the numbing solution and we'll get you set up!
